in Belize and property transfers are handled similar
to North American and Brittish systems.
The best way to protect your title in Belize is to have a title search. If there is a registered lien against the property, it will be found in a title search.
You can protect your title by having a title search, Absolutely.
US $150 and up. That's basic. If the property has not been transferred in many years the search will take longer and cost more.
This Govt assesses a 5% tax on property transfers with a BZ $20,000
reduction of evaluation.
Currently, property transferred in a non-registered area is transferred by Conveyance.
By central American standards, property taxes are a bit higher then their southern neighbors but still quite low compared to North American and Caribbean countries.
Belize does
not report income information to other countries.
So it is your responsibility to report as required by
your country of domicile.
